Benter 2 Step Example

On the Betfair exchange, if backing, click the SP (blue) button on the runners that have the stake already calculated.

Enter the stake in the white box. Click submit. The order is sent to Betfair to match at their BSP. Historically, especially on the bigger prices, the prices can be 16%+ better. (used to be 20%+).

There is also a set SP odds minimum (small white box) that can be used. I don't use it personally, just let it cook.

In theory, you're doing this just before the off time, the price is already acceptable, but the BSP could be better. On balance, not too much in it either way I reckon.

Just to throw it out there.

With dutching and not using the BSP, you could use the Betfair platform to set the dutch bets at the prices you already want to take.

The light blue stake (?) button can be clicked, the total amount to stake is input, then the dutch profit already appears far left in green. The liability in this example is £9.99 (I put in £10 is just adjusted)

One issue though is when putting in the odds you want, the market can move away when you submit you order. Some get matched, some don't.

That’s correct and if one leg is not taken the bet is ruined , it happens so often - the way around that ( excuse me if it’s already been discussed) is to leave incremental staggered bets and if you have to I would even leave the stake at less than your required odds just to get on and even the bet up - we have gone over this loads of times from memory it works best if you are trying to gain a set return no matter which horse wins - it hurts when the long odds win but overall I think it’s better especially when starting up and gaining confidence is paramount.

But you are Dutching your selections, no?

If not, I really don't get it
No, dutching would require knowing what is going to be backed, I dont know what is going to be matched. You could I guess dutch those that at that moment in time or value bets and don't bother to bet any that drift to value but that is not my approach

DuckandDive DuckandDive Yes, that's helpful to know, certainly for the future.

I use my Dutching Calculator to work out the stakes, then check whether the odds are available for several seconds before recording it as a "bet", as I can't actually bet. As you know, I'm far too young to bet. Ahem. 🤥

Haven't discussed it before. I'd certainly do that if my bet was a bigger one and I didn't want to spook the market.

Why would it take 9 bets to recover if for example the next bet is a 9/1 winner or a 20/1 winner

I don't get it.

I must be missing something.

You posted a list of 7 runners from the same race where BF matched your bets.

So if you get a 9/1 or 20/1 winner, you'd have to deduct the losses from the losing bets from that 9/1 or 20/1.

Whether Dutched or not, there would be losses of some sort to deduct from the profit on the winner, no?
