Anybody play the game ? Me and the missus have started playing just for a bit of fun in the house.
 
I play a *lot*. I think it is fair to say I might be addicted :D
I play competitively in the UK leagues and competitions, plus there are loads of options for playing online if you want to expand your horizons / improve your ability.
If you need any help or advice just let me know.

Thank you very much i only recently learned to play through studying books ,and a few you tube videos ,as i did not know anybody that actually played ,just starting to get to grips with it at the moment . Thanks again for the offer of help and i will certainly bare it in mind for the future.

No problem at all, happy to help. Be warned though, it is very addictive. Books are an excellent way to learn about different strategies and phases of the game. The downside is the market for the books isn't huge, so they tend to be a bit pricey. These are the best bets are...

Beginner
Intermediate
Once you master the basics, you will want to start playing with a doubling cube, which ramps up the complexity & tactics significantly.
Plus, if you really get into it, most people buy backgammon software for the PC (eXtreme Gammon) which allows you to play against the computer & analyze every move, game, match to see where & why you didn't play the optimum move. If you are good with numbers and statistics, then you have got a big head start.

If this has massively taken the fun out of it for you, sorry 🤣 ...just play for fun.

Yes getting to grips with it a bit now ,been studying Bill Roberties books and a few others ,am a bit annoyed though because the missus is more than holding her own against me,despite not picking up a book she just seems to be able to pick up what ive learned by playing against me.
