Hi arkroyal and thanks. Just one point regards your answer, when you say it is easy enough to link their tables to your own database, what exactly do you mean? Can you explain the process roughly if possible?

I did try Raceform before but only used the query feature, downloading months of results at a time which took ages and wasn't really what I wanted. Would be interested to know what you mean re 'linking their tables' as I say.

I will give a fuller answer later if required, but basically you link your own data base to their tables and you can the run your own queries rather than the crap that they provide.
As the data is linked you will not run the risk of inadvertantly corrupting it
 
Thank you arkroyal a detail of exactly how to do it would be brilliant. I sent off for a new disc from Raceform this morning so it should be here tomorrow and I am keen to give it a go.

Hi Chaps

When trying to unzip the Racing sense download I keep getting an error message saying that the file is not a valid archive, I have also tried using 7zip and rar but all give out the same message. Am I linking to an incorrect link ?

I have a copy from 2010 tha worked fine. Just started downloading the latest one to try it out but its v e r y s l o w.
Will let you know whether it works or not when it finishes downloading

That downloaded no problem from your link and no reported errors with the unzipping (puzzled as to why I was getting errors from the RS site though) so again many thanks:drinks: . Stage two is to work out how to get it into access and be able to play with it!:eek:

Hi All

Ark has kindly set me up with the download but I do not want to overload him with requests so may I ask if other members may be able to help me with converting the mdb file. I am currently using (for the very first time) Access 2013 and I am unable to locate the "Database Utilities/Convert Database" as referred to in rpjd99's post. I have searched the big book but as far as I can see I am told to open the mdb file in access which then tells me I can not open an older version. The post of rpjd99 appears to make sense but I am just unable to find the location of the converter in access 2013. Any pointers would be appreciated, thanks in advance chaps.

Hmm, I think you may have a problem.

Convert an Access 97 database to the .accdb format
Starting with Access 2013, it’s no longer possible to directly convert an Access 97 database (.mdb) to the .accdb file format. However, you can open an Access 97 database in a previous version of Access, and then save the database in a format that Access 2013 can open. For example, here’s how to use Access 2003 to open an Access 97 database, then convert it to a format that can be opened by Access 2013:

  1. Open the Access 97 database in Access 2003.
  2. Click Tools > Database Utilities > Convert Database > to Access 2002-2003 file format.
  3. Enter a name for the database and click Save.
  4. Close Access 2003 and open Access 2013.
  5. Open the database and click File > Save As > Access Database (.accdb) > Save As > Save.
You can also use Access 2007 or Access 2010 to convert an Access 97 database to the .accdb format. When you open an Access 97 database in either of these two products, the Database Enhancement wizard appears to help convert the database to an .accdb format.

If no one comes up with a better alternative I can upload a converted file for you.
