Speed Test

In a word NO

He has to do something completely different here. Win on good or quicker ground for the first time. He is 0-6.

He won't be carrying my money

Thanks Rob, you were very bullish about it last week so was wondering why nothing today but now I know
all the best
Larry

The 11lb hike in the weights didn't help either, always travelling well thoughout the race, unlucky

I had the going at Haydock at +0.10s/f (good), and had to make adjustments, as Kirkland Tellwright added on 55yds
onto races on the round course, he keeps me on my toes

He will go up again for this and he's now looking at 0-100 or 0-105. Being gelded has improved him but I just can't see him winning one of those unless it turns up gluey.

I may be wrong but Rob highlighted Crystal Earth at Balinrobe tonight, I personally dont think its a very good proposition.
Its only win was in a 2m Mares only Bumper, its best runs on the proper flat have been over 12f its last run over 12f it was all out at the finish, TBB has it +7 on his ratings but that would be at 12f tonights race is over 14f where it has a record of unseated rider, 6th of 7 & 10th of 14, its only win was against other females tonight she is racing against both sexes, as I said I may be wrong in fact I usually am, but by highlighting it many will think this is a good thing, I think it is anything but.
all the best

Well highlighted Larry, deffo no betfor me.

You have to keep the faith, hacked up

Don't think it was about keeping the faith Mike, more like a leap of faith The mare was moving up 2f a distance she had previously had serious problems over.

Well done if you backed her and thanks for highlighting her. Don't know her figure for tonight but she looks like she can win again.

That's why we love horseracing Larry. She is probably in foal showing that sort of improvement :king:

I just couldn't make sense of the going at Ballinrobe last night, the official going was given as Good to firm
but the times returned from the 1m1f races which were true run, showed the going to be on the soft side :minigun:

Possibly the races were not run over the correct distances, which happens quite frequently at Tramore, Dave Edwards
is going to love this when he gets around to compiling his speed figures for Ballinrobe , he is going to end up with
at least 3 going allowances to cover the flat and jumps, we will have to wait and see

Picked out a steering job Ayr 4.30 yesterday in the form of Artful Prince +14, he is entered in at Nottingham on the 16th,
the handicapper will make him pay for this

The runner up Mash Potato +8 was unlucky to have bumped into a vastly improved performer in the shape of Artful Prince,
and a similar race is his for the taking providing he doesn't bump into Artful Prince again

Cheers Mike.
I backed Mash Potato yesterday. That's twice he has now bumped into improvers. Couloir Extreme was highlighted on your figures and that race at Windsor is looking very strong now.

Artful Prince has definitely improved due to the blinkers and the step up in trip. He looks a gimme next time. Mash Potato surely can't find another massive improver next time.

Mike, what's your thoughts on Simple Magic yesterday. She has produced the best figure by a 2yo at Wolverhampton this year by some 13 points.

Another one from Wolverhampton yesterday is Excellent Jem who has run to 72. He has a 78 in his portfolio from last year and he shouldn't go up too much for this.

Simple magic already had a speed figure of 63 from her run behind Oriel at Windsor, and even with the going allowance at +0.25s/f (standard to fast)
The time returned for the race was impressive, she had the fastest pace figure on the night :minigun:

John Gosden is sure to run her in a listed or group race next time to pick up some black type and I have no doubt before the end of the year she will be rated much higher

Excellent Gem is not the sort of horse who I would look at on his next run, can he reproduce his win next time out, I doubt it :minigun:
