Van der Wheil

Has anyone used to van-der-wheil subscription website? I'm not sure what the forum rules are around linking websites but if you add a .com to the thread title,it will take you there.

I have started to incorporate a number of vdw type filters into my ratings and am wondering whether this website would be a real time saver for me.

You can use HRB to generate Ability Ratings automatically and back research past races to see How the Ability Ratings Looked before the Rce was Run. The Jib Rating was added to the site that you mention about two weeks after I revealed the Formula on another Forum. The Merit Speed Rating is something that motto uses on this Forum.

There are quite a few VDW Threads on the open Forum where you should pick up a few ideas to explore for yourself

Hi Chesham Chesham thanks for your reply. Correct me if I'm wrong but the tone of your reply suggests these were not willingly given to that sote to use. I certainly do not want to support that sort of behaviour as I am aware of how much time and effort goes into producing these ratings.

I am certainly not looking for anything that 'hands out' selections to me but I do struggle for time to look at racing with my work and other commitments. I do use the HRB ability already and I have created several of my own which I use. My original interest in that site was more down to potential time saving than any desire to have things handed to me on a plate.

Perhaps if reverse the question what time saving elements were you hoping to get for your money, if you subscribe to the said site. Some of our members subscribe to inform site (I am not a subscriber) and they have Speed-Ability -Consistency Ratings on their Cards.

When I posted the JIB Formula I did not expect JIB Rating to appear on a Pay For Service, so yes it was disappointing.

These are an example of the Ability Ratings generated by HRB (Are these what you are already generating) I think I have posted the JIB Formula on the Open Part of this Forum, so you could always ask Chris (HRB) if he could incorporate the JIB Ratings in to HRB

Mtoto is the best person to discuss Merit Speed Ratings with

Using HRB you can check out the Ability Ratings for the LTO or any Race for that Matter

It was the idea of having all the days race cards ready to assess, without me pulling all the info together myself before looking at them in depth. Some of the ratings would be different but a number are similar to those I am currently using. At the moment I pull information from a number of sites into an Excel document. I do all of this manually which takes me say 15 minutes per race to create my card. I generally get around an hour an evening to look at the next days racing, which limits me to 2-3 races a day. I was browsing the internet for vdw sites and came across the thread title site. I will not be subscribing though as even if it would save me time, I do not want to profit from a site that obtains other peoples hard work without their permission.

Yes, thank you, I had seen the guide on setting up Ability ratings in HRB and I do factor those into my analysis. I currently use the RP TS as my speed figures (analysed in my own way) but I appreciate from those who specialise in speed figures that they are not hugely accurate at times. Thank you for your suggestions Chesham Chesham I appreciate you taking the time to provide me with some advice.

Hi Chesham Chesham Thanks for the suggestion. Are these the same Ability ratings as per HRB?

They are more accurate as they take into account Overseas races as well. They are Win Prize Money decided by Wins. The Hotform Ratings take into account Win and Place with a Slightly different Formula.

The EP Column is Earnings Per Start

The Ratings are generated from an App that I run

Do they take into account wins in all races or just the type of race they are running in? e.g would flat and AW be combined?

True, certainly in the case of Lady Aurelia, a very impressive performance from her.

For my current ratings I use the RP figures which appear to include worldwide results, they certainly did for A Shin Hikari. I tend to only use wins/winnings from the same type of race and then assess first time runners on the surface or in the race code seperately.

If you are using RP Data for your Ability Ratings they should be accurate
