VDW Van Der Speil

What a terribly sad day - my thoughts are with you.

Thank you for your blog posts, I am very new to the forum, but have been poring over archived threads and have followed your VDW journey with great interest and although they sometimes leave my head spinning, I always finish reading them with the suspicion I have just learned something important...

Thank you everyone, he is in a much better place now, his mind went followed by a rapid decline of his health, he was a good old stick, never appeared to be phased by anything, he will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

There are no words that can ever heal the hurt, but as you can see everyone is thinking of you, and as one of the signatures says remember the good times.

I would just like to add my condolences to you and yours:hi:

That is very sad Bob may he rest in peace.

My dad is 81 and luckily very well at the moment, it is life unfortunately and 83 is not a bad innings, but we only have one father and mother and it doesn't matter what age they are when we lose them, it doesn't make it any easier.

Try to remember the good times,I am sure he was very proud of you.

Sorry to hear your father has passed away Bob.

Arkle

Sincere condolences to you and your family Bob.

Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

My dad once said to me " keep your eye out for a chap called John Higgins playing snooker, I am a good friend of his mom & dad,", ......I took it with a pinch of salt, my dad comes from Wishaw , John Higgins nickname is the is 'The Wizard Of Wishaw' ....... a few quid lost there me thinks.

Anyway, the dust has settled and we plod on regardless.

I have not seen this offered up on any other forum unless it is in the murky depths of the 'inner sanctum'.

Van Der Wheil offers up the Mackeson Gold Cup Handicap Chase with Pegwell Bay and shows his table, here is the table for Nomadic Way:

Here you can clearly see the winner in a similar light to Pegwell Bay

I noted that the Raceform book actually has horses missing from race 3222a, Excellenza was 15th in this race and yet in the annual it is missing, but it is visible on RP, there was 20 runners in this race, but only 6 runners shown in the book, I think Irish races did not have any preference and GB runners were noted
Excellenza's 3rd last race is also not in the Flat annual of 1988, but it shows you that he ran and won at Tipperary in a 1m6f race on RP.
If you have not noted, a lot of the earliest Irish races on RP have not prize money, not sure if this is because of the change of currency from Punts to Euro, either way, this may go unnoticed.
Apologies, I had to change the picture, it was slightly wrong, I marked off Janiski who was not one of the 3 lowest consistency.
