• Hi Guest, The forum will be moving hosts on 26 July and as such will be closed from Midday until the move has completed.
As we will be with new hosts it may take a while before DNS get updated so it could take while before you can get back on the forum.
I think it will take at least 4 hours but could easily be 48!

  • There seems to be a problem with some alerts not being emailed to members. I have told the hosts and they are investigating.

  • Sorry for the ongoing issues that you may have been experiencing whilst using the forum lately

It really is frustrating when the forum slows down or Server Error 500 pops up.

Apparently the hosts acknowledge there is a problem.
Thank you for using our services and sorry for the experienced delay!
Unfortunately, these errors are due to a higher server load. Our senior department knows about the issue and they are working towards a permanent resolution of the issue, however, I'd advise you to consider using our new cPanel cloud solutions: https://www.tsohost.com/web-hosting

I will have to investigate what the differences are with what We have know compared to the alternative service they want us to migrate to.
    Keep safe.

Trainer change systems

Second at 50. Won the race but lost it in the stewards room.

No comment from me about the decision but pretty painful from a punting perspective.

T TonCon I couldn't see much on the side on view but I expect head on showed the interference. Racing TV called it a 50/50 shout. It'll go my way another day hopefully...

I don't bet with bookies anymore tractorboy tractorboy. Industry SP of 28/1 and Betfair SP of 50/1 largely showing why. SkyBet did their promotional spiel of saying they paid on both 1st and 2nd, but largely worthless. The horse was 8/1 with them when I posted the qualifier yesterday morning and drifted out to 28s (no BOG on that race), but I'd have only got 8/1.

I'm minded to stop sharing these at 100 races. If anybody wants the criteria I'm using to run with Horseracebase/something else, feel free to send me a message.
these threads get little interest unfortunately. There was a discussion on here a few years ago that had an in-depth post about trainer changes ... its something that comes up a lot in the USA racing because of the number of claiming races .. some trainers do well when they are running first time for a new trainer, others take two or three runs before they have them dialed in.

edit : Just found the thread i was referring to, some good reading here. No idea if the same numbers apply, but probably worth dragging up and updating.

pawras pawras was involved in the initial findings, did you ever follow this up pawras pawras ? Anything interesting thrown out there?

Thanks pete pete. I'm not saying I've got this right and others wrong (definitely not) but what I've tried to do here is remove the trainer element and instead focus on the horses that I think are more likely to improve for a new trainer.

I know there are some trainers that actually make an effort to recruit horses that they think are being placed in the wrong races or simply with a bad trainer. If anything, if it were possible I'd try and focus on the previous trainer rather than the new one (which F Frontrunner has suggested before). But given that's tricky, focusing on horse characteristics has the more merit in my opinion.

greyabbey newcomer You have proved you can make a very decent profit over near 100 bets which is superb.

I'll be sorry to see the end of it, although I haven't had a bet I've thoroughly enjoyed following the thread. Good luck with whatever you decide to do next.

Very impressive results there greyabbey newcomer, well done indeed, looks like you've hit on a good system there.

Do you use Horseracebase, T TonCon? I'll gladly share the criteria.

I'm still planning on following the system - I'm just going to save myself the trouble of posting it!
greyabbey newcomer - I have all the computer literacy of a housebrick, so no, but thank you for your most generous offer.

Edit : I notice that HRB is offering a month's free trial - I might have a go at that to see how it pans out.
