• Hi Guest, The forum will be moving hosts on 26 July and as such will be closed from Midday until the move has completed.
As we will be with new hosts it may take a while before DNS get updated so it could take while before you can get back on the forum.
I think it will take at least 4 hours but could easily be 48!

  • Sorry for the ongoing issues that you may have been experiencing whilst using the forum lately

It really is frustrating when the forum slows down or Server Error 500 pops up.

Apparently the hosts acknowledge there is a problem.
Thank you for using our services and sorry for the experienced delay!
Unfortunately, these errors are due to a higher server load. Our senior department knows about the issue and they are working towards a permanent resolution of the issue, however, I'd advise you to consider using our new cPanel cloud solutions: https://www.tsohost.com/web-hosting

I will have to investigate what the differences are with what We have know compared to the alternative service they want us to migrate to.
    Keep safe.

PP ran well, very nice jumper, but never understand why you would stick such a lovely jumper in the rear and wide, just an absolute waste. No doubt he will pick up a race, but I doubt he would be a big enough price to interest me.

I might put a couple for tomorrow, but hills are just cutting so quickly lately, hopefully I can wait until the others price up.
That would probably suit most of our WH restricted punters. Of all the books, I never thought WH would have been one to restrict me for mostly £2-£3 bets. Always imagined you'd have to be betting £50+ to get restricted.

Strange days in the EP markets WH price up extra early at piddle take over rounds but despite this still make occasional ricks. Paddy has changed from being super defensive Re the market leaders to taking strong stand alone positions across the board and B365 now go up from 3pm and remain the only day before bog.........confused we should be but at least it don't get boring.

Hi mick mick, Betfair Sportsbook, which is what I mostly use, also have BOG day before. They don’t price up till about 5-6 PM though.

Edit: just checked Betfair rules, and it says it’s only BOG from 8 AM, but I have been getting BOG on bets I have placed the night before, strange.

Strange indeed and beware a palpable error reckoning. BFSB just do as Paddy tells them. I recall when they started the sports book a restricted everywhere mate phoned me saying he had just asked for and been given £300 @ 11/2, but the first time i tried i was restricted to a max £100 takeout. With hindsight i suspect this was down to my PC on the exchange.

Just to be awkward i still used them for a while but it then became very apparent that they where using me as an early marker because as soon as i had my £5 @20/1 they where instantly reducing the price which is pathetic. I actually e mailed them with screen shot examples to evidence this and suggested they give me a £400 takeout as this would enable the continuation in a fair and mutually advantageous way.

All i received was the standard traders decision type response. I can and do still get some on via the back door but in my experience as horse racing bookmakers they are just the little clown to Paddys bigger one.

Wanted to do this one earlier, but hills cut in to 15/2, but B365 just opened at 12/1

Thirsk 5.00 Petitioner

This 7 year old gelding has been a bit too high in the ratings to win, but ran two solid 2l 4ths last season off 68/69 showing that his turn might not be far away.

He made his seasonal debut 12 days ago at Beverley, where he wasn't in the best of positions to do much, but ran OK to only be beat 3l in the end. The horse 2l ahead in 3rd, was only narrowly denied the other day. The handicapper has been quite kind in dropping the selection 3lb for that run, and I've been watching this 5lb conditional Joanna Mason, who is now on board, and she looks tidy.

The horse is effectively 8lb lower, running off 60, down to a 0-65 for the first time in his career, and just having that pipe opener could prove a big thing given almost half of the field are having their first runs of the season. I would like to think he will have come on for that run, and it's going to be disappointing if he can't go close off this mark.

Had some on Low Profile in there too, although had to play at closer to 7s than the 8s advertised. Still like the other one more, but this one could improve on stable/seasonal debut

Two droppers for the 8.00 at Thirsk

Harvest Day

Hopefully it will drift out to be worth playing (7/1 would be OK), the profile is quite similar to Pet, and even has the same conditional

She made a pleasing seasonal debut 12 days ago when finishing a 2.75l 5th, but she travelled as well as anything before fading late on (1.37 IR).

She's back to Thirsk, where she won at back in Sep 2019 off 71, and she also ran good third here last September off 68, more so given she didn't have the best of passages. She last ran off 61, but will be running off just 55 with the 5lb conditional, and hopefully dropping 1f down to 7f won't hurt her chances.

Twin Appeal at 12/1

She went close to winning several times between 74-77 last August, and won over this CD off 76. She was out the rear on her comeback run a few weeks back, but is now running off just 63. She's nicely drawn in 3, and would have to be involved if on song

Good write up RyanWe RyanWe . I also picked out Twin Appeal as posted on my thread but haven’t yet decided whether to back or not. Interesting that you feel low draw is a positive as I felt middle to high were favoured in big fields here, either way it’s a small sample size. Good luck with all your bets today.

You are probably right about the draw, sometimes the lower numbers get crushed by the higher drawn horses coming over too.

It’s only a small sample size as there are not many races with as big fields as this, so I wouldn’t say I am right. It could go either way, hopefully low won’t be a disadvantage.

I would prefer just a two mile straight for the flat 😂

Far too tactical for me with races on the bends, your race is pretty much over with a slow start.

The jumps kicks off again tomorrow, and I’ve got my eye on a few, just hope the prices stay about for later

Uttoxeter 1.55 Dreamsundermyfeet 20/1

This 6 year old gelding was popular in the betting on his handicap debut back in Jan, despite not having shown much in his qualifying runs.

He couldn’t have been much wider, in search for better ground, but I really like the way he travelled, but for weakening late on.

It turns how he had a bit of a breathing problem, which he had an op on very soon after. Not sure why it’s not been reported, but it’s on the blog.

It looks like they’ve been waiting for better ground, and also to not lose his novice status by running now. The drop by 1f looks ideal, and I we should see more from this horse

Anyone got strong thoughts on tomorrow's 2000 Guineas?
I like Mutasaabeq at a half decent price. Thought he was impressive at Newmarket last time. Not a recognised trial for this but he is unbeaten and yard thought that he was a bit immature, so have given him a relatively easy start to his career. Looked very professional last time though. Charlie Hills' horses seem to be running very well too, at the moment. Dam is Ghanaati who won the 1000 Guineas and was an outstanding miler, by Giants Causeway.
Obviously Aidan O'Brien has such a select squad to choose from and has an outstanding record in the race. He only runs three this year which I suspect is less than normal. Wembley seems to be well-fancied, (and has been the subject of good reports);outstandingly bred too. By Galileo, (unsurprisingly), and dam Inca Princess has a great record at stud. All wins have come with some ease in ground though. That probably won;t be key, but it could be pretty quick at Newmarket tomorrow, I suspect? We've had some rain in Norwich today, (some 50 odd miles from Newmarket), but that;s the first time there has been any moisture for at least two weeks, (although temperatures have also been pretty cool for most of that time).

I'd say pretty disappointing British army for the race, in truth. No John Gosden or Sir Michael Stoute horses, (Johnny G is severely lacking runners on the card), Roger Varian only has a long-shot. Charlie Appleby has three, (all sons of Dubawi); Master of the Seas and One Ruler are both well bred and could well have more to come. Irish make up a third of the 15 strong field though. Irish plus Godolphin over half the field.

As a side-note, is it just me or do anyone else think that Saeed Bin Suroor's powers have really gone downhill over the past few years? Three or four years ago, he was very critical over the standard of two year olds he had been provided with. I thought at the time that this might have been the signal for a resurgence in the next few years, as he was with the owner from the start in the UK. And has had such a great career, representing Godolphin so well. It's got worse since though, in truth
It all seems to be going downhill fast; Charlie Appleby seems to have virtually all the best Godolphin horses nowadays.

I don;t understand his jockey bookings nowadays. Okay, Oisin Murphy gets some rides for Saeed, and Hector Crouch does well for the yard. However, in general there seems such a scattergun approach as to who is booked to ride a Saeed horse in any particular race. Such a contrast to the glory days under Frankie, (and I notice he is picking up some rides for Charlie Appleby at the moment).

I don't have a strong fancy for the race so wouldn't want to put anyone off their choice but clearly many of the speed boys inc Simon Rowlands were taken with MUTASAABEQ who won by 6L over 7f the other day, covered a sectional under 11 secs late on that day so is a bit of a dark horse.
He effectively won a 3 horse race and if you take the view that AIDEN O'BRIENS horses were running a little under par that week we are left with a 6L win over a horse rated 88, so that leaves us to accept another 20lbs of improvement which might be an overeach and still asking a few ponds more needed for a guineas winner, i might be wrong but not for me.

The best 2yr old form concerns the front two in the market and because i was impressed with the turn of foot THUNDER MOON showed at the curragh i prefer him ahead of his old rival WEMBLEY, to be honest though this is a difficult race to judge.

good luck.
