Standardbred Racing

USFIGS

Yearling
This is probably a silly question, but I wondered if anyone had taken a crack at figures or par times for standardbred racing? Not exactly my cup of tea from a fan standpoint but 50% of all French betting is on trotting races and obviously the pools are large in Sweden as well.

I was just curious if anyone had any insights. I am working on my par times for Vincennes as I type this.

I call it Trotting, your be lucky to find anybody who even understands the subject of standard times compilation especially for France.

Attheraces just recently showed the main meeting from there, the crowd attendance estimated at 40,000 was more than the attendance at the 2018 Arc De Triomphe.

Yes, that was the Grand Prix de Paris, the last leg of the French Trotting Triple Crown. It was won by Belina Josselyn who won the first leg but ran out in the 2nd.

In some ways French standardbred handicapping is easier than flats because you don't have to worry about who will handle the going. I know enough about the sport to be dangerous but that's all. My closest friend in the states bets harness racing for a living, he's obviously very good. I have been tasked with coming up with standard times and from that speed figures. The standard times are just plug and chug, they gave me years worth of data purchased from Paris-Turf. Speed figures, I'm not sure how to do that yet.

Like I had said, people I work with here are interested because about 4 billion euros is bet on it every year. By comparison, only about 900 million euros is wagered on North American harness racing.

Always good chatting with you. I like this board. It attracts a high class of handicappers.

Cheers,
Ian

I will do that. Thanks Ray. Spent the day looking at the different configurations for 2100m races at Vincennes. Ah, quite the life I lead,
🤣

I actually enjoy this kind of stuff so it's really not too bad.
