Stable money

I wonder if any member is aware of any research on the composition of the horse race betting market, ie what proportion of the bets on a given horse would typically be placed by individual punters, professional organisations of the kind ARAZI91 ARAZI91 works for, or those with a connection to the stable? It strikes me as a very difficult issue to research, but that doesn't mean someone hasn't found a way and published their findings. If so, I'd be grateful for a steer to it.

Thanks, MySportsAI MySportsAI. Interesting piece of work but its categories, smart money and other, are too broad for my purposes. Clearly, those backing a particular horse because they know something the general public don't, or those in organisations such as that to which I referred and have full-time analysts working on races, would definitely in common parlance be viewed as in the smart category. But for any given favourite, for example, such as seems likely All Ways Glamorous or Tuco Salamanca will be in the first at Ascot, what I am really hoping to get a handle on is how much of the money bet is from ordinary punters, professional firms and connections. I imagine the overwhelming majority comes from the very much more numerous first, but that is just a guess because I have no ideas how much it total will go on a horse or what level of bets the less numerous second and third categories tend to place. That is, they may be many fewer in number but betting in hundreds and thousands while I guess most ordinary punters are betting in fivers or tenners.
