WEATHERBYS nhstallions.co.uk GRADUATION CHASE (2)

then should have no problem winning this. The 4yo is an exciting recruit to chasing and i hope all goes well. Won a juvenile grade 2 hurdle and 3rd to Sir Gino in a juvenile hurdle grade 1.

Won ok and jumped well. Needs 2.5mile as a minimum IMO

My Paul Nicholls bet was looking fairly good after Kalif Du Berlais won, I played trebles but the next 5 lost, bet ruined. Write off for me today, I did get lucky with a single on Emmet Mullins or it would have been a complete whitewash, never mind eh.

KALIF DU BERLAIS

He showed a high level of form as a juvenile last season on his arrival from France winning twice at Kempton, including the Grade Two Adonis Juvenile Hurdle. In the Grade One Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle up at Aintree, but he was just a little outpaced that day, however it was still a solid enough run in defeat.

The likelihood is that we will go novice chasing with him this season and I would like to think he is going to take top rank switched to fences. His part owner John Hales has searched for a Gold Cup horse for a long time and hopefully in time he can develop into a contender for the race one day.

We had him at Cheltenham on Saturday, but we decided not to run him as the ground was too quick. I’ve entered him at Uttoxeter on Friday in a novices’ chase, but he will only run there if the ground is right. Like Rubaud, I might just give him a run over hurdles before going over fences as I think off 135 he has quite an attractive mark.

If I can’t find a suitable option over fences I will wait for the Gerry Feilden at Newbury.
If that is the case the KDB ran a great race in the 2mile chase today.

With Jack Kennedy on

Firefox 2.05 Fairyhouse

it will be inetesting to see if this one jumps as well as it did LTO against one of Henry de Bromheads. Elliott and de Bromhead make up the whole field. Steller Story NR (Elliott). Firefox did nothing wrong in its last race and when asked to win it, did so with the minimum of fuss. If evens is available I think it warrents a half bet for me. Firefox finished second to Mystical Power but this one let the form down badly in the FIGHTING FIFTH HURDLE on Saturday and I will have to wait to see if anything was amiss with it?

Firefox. My initial thoughts are that Firefox should have been closer but could not get a run up the inside.

I'm not saying more then that at the moment. Firefox settled well and IMO ran very well jumped well. Hey Ho thats the way it goes in grade one races!

Sorry if I misled anyone saying that Jack Kennedy was riding mine. Bit of a scoolboy error here.
'Jack Kennedy will undergo surgery after breaking his leg for a sixth time in a fall at Fairyhouse on Saturday.'

Not sure about Lady Balko today.
All 3 wins have come when going right handed.
All 3 wins on Soft.
Highest winning hurdle rating OR 100
Lady Balko is now rated OR 113
The mare ran OK for a long way when introduced to chasing with a tired mistake late on and finished 30 lengths behind the winner. It could be that this one with only 11 runs will improve and that last race was over 20f and today the distance is 25.5 furlongs. 2 of her wins came over 23.9 furlongs at Taunton (on soft) so there is hope. Has been placed twice going left handed so there is some hope.
Plumpton 2.20pm Good to Soft (Soft in places) Paul 11.06am Monday

Lady Balko leads all and won quite well dispelling my doubts about the course configuration and the going. All in all I thought this one might win again if the handicapper dosnt get too severe with her. Very pleased with that performance.

The first few months of adjusting to the National Hunt have been a bit up and down but I'm getting there. The 3 months prior to today show a slight loss but within the last 30 days Ive been pulling the deficit back. I'm nearly ready to risk a full bet (if one turns up) on my chasers. Mechanical procedure showed these today.

Just to be clear the figures at the end are just the handicap marks.

Only got as far as the mechanical procedure up to now but may leave it there for today. Got to take the dog out at 12noon.

Just viewed the replay. Jumped left 5 out, jumped violently left 4 out and did the same again 3 out.
When this one won its hurdle race 7 days ago it jumped left at the final hurdle. Not one to trust. NB last run was only 7 days ago.

Always nice when theres a 1-2 forecast in the right order. Had to watch the race from the car outside the local PO. Such is life.
