It's hello from me

Hi all.
Have been impressed by the quality of content in here and will try to contribute. As for all of us there never seems to be much time to spare, but will try my best.

By way of background I make a living from horse racing only. That's all I specialise in, no soccer or other sports. Like Mick on here I hate to be considered a "pro" as there are lots of shysters that use that label . My method is to pick horses that I think will win, back them to win only, with no each way bets , but then back maybe one to two dangers to cover the main bet stake and also to give me a small profit. I have always been a Timeform fan but have also subscribed to Proform.

Have always scorned systematic betting but have found that Proform led me to explore angles that I would otherwise have ignored and I will share a few of these when I have a second or two. Tomorrow looks a very light day for me so will try and throw something in then. Early ventures into racing go back to the early 70s so I have a bit of experience under the belt. I am always looking to learn and am happy to share knowledge when I can.

Nice to have you here WT, please feel free to pick your own avatar if you don't like the one that has magically been selected for you.

:welcome: to the forum and enjoy your stay. put the kettle on and make yourself a brew, there's some good bedtime reading on here :D

:welcome:
I assume your Irish ?
@ark the avatar is Wolfetone ("he fought the Brits and gave his life to free Old Ireland")

Half Brit, half Irish, Nedloh! Educated in England, now living in the land of saints and scholars. Always been keen on British and Irish history hence the Wolfetone bit. The history of the Troubles is pretty unfathomable of course, and as they used to say over here, if you think you have the answer to the Irish problem, then you obviously haven't understood the question. But all in all, not a bad old place. Was in Dublin last weekend , one of the best cities in the world for craic.

There are 3 members on here from Co Carlow- anywhere near ?.
We are less than 20 miles from one another, which is hard to believe considering how small a Forum this is.

Over the border in Co Armagh, Ned. Just love the whole island of Ireland. I avoid the whole political thing if I can cos I think the politicians up here are just tribal and possibly the worst in Europe, and the ones in the South have hardly covered themselves in glory in the recent past. What I like about the south is that it is obviously a modern European country, comfortable in its own skin, no longer beholden to, resentful of, or envious of Britain. Rated Mary McAleese very highly and thought she and the Queen did a lot to foster friendship and respect between the two countries. Now spend as much time in the south as I do in England and strangely they all feel like home to me. Nuffield politics, don't want to tread on any toes
