Gelding
Ok seen as though the football part of the forum is livening up a bit i thought i would post up how i play the lovely game we all love.....

Just a little bit about how i came to my end point of the systems and what i use to get money out of the pesky bookies and betfair. I began betting on horses in the late 1980's where i had a very fruitful 6 or so years having bumped into a very good friend and a professional gambler in the northern part of the country before meeting up with this friend i had never had a bet in my life. Through the late 80's and the early 90's we could do no wrong winners were flying in all over the place using his ratings system i thought we had discovered the holy grail i managed to grow a pot of around £100 into a huge pot of around 10k which in those days was a huge amount of money, the late winter and early summer of 1992 being the most fruitful, backing Novice chasers going into H/Caps for the first time and early 3yo's and the back bone of the season on the flat 2yo's. We travelled all over the country to racecourses backing these horses, this was the way to live i thought loved it.

Until of course it all came tumbling down the form and luck ran out 1993 losses were heavy that year and i was beginning to fall out with the racing game but plugged on winning losing until 2008 where i turned my efforts to football. This looked easy compared to backing horses which we all know now is not as easy as it looks.

Using databases made by other people as my excel was not great at the time began picking teams using pre match data, some success but more losses than wins again losses were driving me to hop around on stuff. I then came up with a ratings system for football where ArkRoyal ArkRoyal royal help me out and lead me to have a program made for generating ratings on a daily basis has some success with this in the early days but became very tricky as the bookies new what i new and prices were poor, this lead me to look at inplay betting on football where i could see matches inplay on bet 365 now this became hard trying to watch more than 2 games inplay at anyone time and i began to miss lots of opportunities this became very frustrating but then by chance i got talking to mandkay mandkay from this forum we began to share the job of picking teams inplay watching bet 365 green pitches with inplay data on.

Fast forward to present day myself and mandkay mandkay had our own software written where we can see all games inplay. Ok i hear you say so what ?? but we came up with see how games progress using interval stats by this i mean i can see at anyone all matches with 1,5,10,15 minute intervals now this is where this comes into its own were we one step ahead of the pack ???

For me bookmakers and the exchanges underestimate prices inplay, my primary focus is goals when a goal is going to come so can our algorithms really predict goals ?? well we are about to see over the coming months on this thread year to date we are flying.

So the main focus of bets will be fhg "First half goals" teams to win mainly driven from second half data.
It goes deeper and the work that has been carried out, i have taken lots of data strings from SOT "shot on target" SOft "Shots off target" Dangerous attacks and so on finding sweet spots using averages.

A few pictures of the efforts that have actually gone in and the software we use to predict goals.

Now i know inplay is not everyone cup of tea but lets try and smash the bookies using this way of betting.

I wont be able to post every match as i also have to get the bet on at the best prices i can, but all selections will be quoted from either bet 365 or betfair....Untitled.png

Ok the first betting post was 11:30 just after 13:00 now i have my work done for the day money in the bank and wages made.

I will carry on posting through out the day and the coming months.

A few little notes to ones self you must stay away from Arabic countries and lower German leagues these leagues tend to flatter to deceive and tend to do a lot of running up and down the pitch.

Hope you football guys like these ideas and have any comments on how to improve would be much appreciated.

Just so I'm clear, what's "Power", "IPK" and "SOF" ?? (I've worked out SOT = "shots on target") . . . sorry if that sounds dim.

So you have a pipe into a data-feed somewhere that pages an ongoing data stream and then presents a filtered data sub-set in your spreadsheet(s) with the filtering based on a set of rules that you specify? Or do you apply the rules to a service online somewhere and a filtered data-stream comes down the pipe to hit your spreadsheet(s)? What's the source of the data-stream or is that top secret? 🤭

IPK is a form of power rating SOF shots off target.

I have the use of a data stream API basically that refreshes every 4 seconds urrmmm yes a bit top secret lol..

I also have built in filters as you can see in the pictures i can set my filters to what ever i like and selections will appear on the page, or i see all matches at once if i take the filters off, i can also rearrange my columns to what i want too see or not see just light a whole array of stuff to help me find the goals or not as the case maybe

Hi footysystems,
Having given this some further thought during the week, I think that comparing the spreadsheets that I've rustled up and the app you use, and what they both do, is tantamount to comparing chalk and cheese. My work crunches form numbers with the aim of informing a punt prior to kick off, and what you appear to be doing is making calls based on real-time data as matches progress. The two methodologies used are completely different and the level of sophistication in how the underlying tech, that informs the judgement calls, functions is poles apart. Making decisions based on real-time data is always going to lead to better results. Looking back a comment or two then, I think your comment viz-a-viz "you wouldn't have touched City if you'd been using the right software" (or words to that effect) was a tad on the mean side.

Having said that (you're forgiven by the way), I'm intrigued by the method you're utilising and I'm going to look into something similar myself. It probably won't be driven by a real-time data feed (at least initially) but will look to take real-time data that's available and crunch it in some way to arrive at a set of probabilities - that "X", "Y" or "Z" may occur and/or that Team A will finish the match ahead or Team B.

Are you up for a discussion around how the data your app captures is weighted and feeds into a prediction? I'll understand if you don't want to discuss this, or the finer points, in a public forum and we can correspond via private messaging - or direct mail off of this forum via my web site to avoid that.

In the meantime I'll wait and see what the variance and volatility fairies have in store for me today... 🤔 (negative £££s probably).

Tomorrow's "BIG GAP" listings; those having a gap in table position of 70%+ OR goal diff of +/-40 (a bit early in the season for that).
