Me
I was born in an isolation hospital in a beutiful area of wales known as the gower peninsula nearly 60yrs ago, not only was my Mother carrying me, she was also carrying a contagious illness which left us both with serious heart problems
On release fro hospital we moved into a cottage with no electricity running water or inside toilet With my father and 3 older siblings the si of us lived her until my younger sister was born nearly 2 years later.
we moved into A pupose built council house on a large estate near swansea where we lived up until I married at the age of 25 & move to essex to spend the next thirty five years until now
My interest in horse racing came about when my father used to give me a brown envelope & send me off on my bike then very often back to collect a brown envelope stuffed with money (he was very good at what he backed picking up a few quid almost every week it seemed to me as an 11 year old) he used to treat me for this chore but i was more concerned in how he knew which horses to back I noticed patterns in his bets which were driven by certain trainers of which i still use in my everyday betting. he carried on doing this up until he died two years ago still very successfuly.
Some of my better wins in those days came from doing dog forecasts on a Saturday morning at crayford and Hackney Wick for 112 pence each saturday.
Sticking to the same numbers I had several wins over the years using traps 2-1 28 straght fc doubler at both meetings then traps 6-5 at both meetings I cleared a ton several times indeed on Saturday I had the first 5 races at the wick which paid £197.33 for a 28p stake I still visit the betting shope every morning and do my dog bets but can never seem to replicate those heady days of my mispent youth guess its in my dna as it is in franks that we battle to beat the book.
today we have all the info to hand to assist us but then so does the Bookmaker which is only right & proper but finding an edge is still the buzz that gets me out of bed every morning My ilness hasnt improved over the years on the contrary but there is a lot worse than me out there & with my Family I manage quite well
My Grandson is 15 months old I wonder how things might change by the time he gets to be my age
