One bet, Cerberus, who won quite readily having led all the way, and very pleasing to watch! I got 13/8 about half 11 ish, I believe he opened on track at 7/4, while watching the run up to the race I saw 6/4 before he got backed iinto 5/4 joint favourite so getting better than 5/4 (a shorter price than I saw on Racing TV prior to start, again) ought to have been straightforward for anyone wanting to back him.

Not unusual for a day with so few races, for some reason they always seem to produce minimal results.

today - Lisp won in a canter by miles, but at 2/13 was not overburdened by, for example, having any of my cash on his back. An hour later Neff fought the length of the run in right up to the post to try to hold off the favourite but failed to do so by a neck ... I would say 'he lost nothing in defeat' but I did, so I won't.

tomorrow - take the day off, no bets.

We're heading into that period when the racing kind of dies off a bit as everyone has their eye on a decent target for boxing day, hopefully the ensuing glut of fairly low grade fare and indifferent fields will offer some good opportunities up....

wednesday might also be a 'late posting' day as we're off to Haydock Park for the afternoon, we'll see how things go but I should get everything done a bit earlier than I managed tonight.

A really nice day at Haydock, if you ignore the drink prices and picking losers, a big thumbs up for the steak pie, mushy peas and gravy deal for five pound something, it went down a treat. Lovely weather, I took some photos, I might even post one if I ever get the hang of sending photos from my phone. There's a cracking statue of Lester Piggot there, it shows him aboard his first and last winners (in UK) - The Chase (1948) and Palace Gate Jack ... at Haydock. Search for 'Lester - from start to finish' by William Newton. I confess he is still probably my all time favourite jockey, although by the time I saw him ride in the mid 70's he wasn't quite the young dynamo of the previous decade..... he still rode some fantastic races but seemed to have quietened down a bit.
Nice to see an Injured Jockeys Fund 'stand' there selling stuff - perhaps sitting at a table in the entrance to a toilet block wasn't the most picturesque spot but it guaranteed a lot of people passing by during the afternoon. I picked up a nice warm scarf for my next winter meeting - I bought one a few days back and it turned out to be about as long as Tom Baker's Doctor Who scarf, so I thought I'd have a shorter one for racing and keep the mile long one for dog walking duties - I also bought a diary as it's a good cause..... I'm now trying to figure out what I'll do with it as I last kept a diary as a teacher, recording info about lessons, and swore to put all that behind me on retirement. I use a calendar as a timepiece these days. Diaries are for people who have appointments and stuff.

Hope all ok davejb missed your daily slice of humor.

Hi,
sorry for the gap, I became quite ill a few nights ago and I'm only just starting to feel like I'm starting to get a bit better - it's been a very effective diet if nothing else, not that I needed to lose weight. I couldn't even watch TV for the first 24 hrs or so, yesterday I discovered why that's not really any sort of problem.... it really would help if my wife didn't like watching Emmerdale, Doctors, and that sort of thing.
I'm 3 days behind on results and am not going to work too hard to catch up, but I'll probably be back on the go sometime in the next couple of days barring a relapse.

Dave the rating for Shawaf in 7.45 Dundalk you have it miles clear and so do I , your file with all the details of each race has an error and only displays Bangor,so I couldn’t check it out, I found I had a problem with my data from 12.50 naas 3/11/19 which meant every horse placed lower than 4th was given a total beaten distance of 2.85 lengths , Shawaf is one of these runners and was actually beaten over 13lengths . I don’t know if your database has the same error but worth a check judging by your simular high rating for this horse.
