Once again a little unlucky not getting a double for around £42 as Greengage was beaten a short head. Hence £12 loss on the day. Great pty not to end the month in profit.
You will notice from now on that I will be once more placing more emphasis on Trixies when posting up my bets. I had a disastrous time when I first started out with this strategy in Jun/July. However, I have learnt quite a bit since then. I was relying on too few selections to produce results. Since that time I have been focussing on doubles and trebles and aimed to have six selections each day. This has had sporadic success. The problem is that there are up to 15 possibilities for doubles and 20 possibilities for trebles. For, me personally I had the added frustration of returning home from lunch and finding that even if I had a winner I had the possibility of continuity of the possibility of missing out on a winning double as the racing day progressed. I tried to get around this by ordering the bets as AB, BC, CD, DE and EF which meant that if one selection lost then the next could win and the third could make a winning double etc. etc. The problem with this approach is that I had to combine doubles in chronological order which meant that I could not include my strongest selections in my doubles as I wanted. Having thought about it all, I think that reverting back to Trixies where possible will mean that I can include my three strongest selections under full cover should any two horses win. Also, I have noticed over the past six months that although I have made every effort so as to choose the horses with the expected strongest chance of winning a race this just does not happen very often. I will continue to select the best three presumed strongest selections for my main Trixie(s), usually a contender within the first two (sometimes three) in the betting markets with ideal odds of 3/1 minimum 2/1. This Trixie(s) will be staked at £2 = £8 with the possibility of two Trixies = £16 but, I think on most days I will only find one such strong Trixie. This leaves me with the possibility of having another three Trixies at £1 = £4 (= £20 in total per day) where I can indulge in the higher-priced selections. From the evidence of the last six months, I don’t think that my success rate of winners will be diminished and of course, the returns could be substantially increased.
Finally, in relation to my single win bets, I will be seeking to stake £2 on selections between 4/1 and 9/1 and £1 on selections 10/1 and over. I have to use Sportsbook on Betfair for this as I refuse to start opening lots of Bookmakers accounts for this purpose. Sometimes Sportsbook can be mean e.g. I was only offered 8/1 for Gatechecker today so I had to put £2 on with the Betfair exchange at 12.0.
I have now been posting up since the last six months and my betting bank has not disappeared (31 x £20 = £620 would be the loss if nothing went right for me over a 31 day betting period) so I am optimistic that with improvements that I will pretty soon get back into profit.
