DAILY TRIXIE

TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

2.05 Ayr (1) Tomily 9/2, 5.10 Ayr (2) Four Kingdoms 7/2 and 6.40 Wolv (5) With Caution = £4 stake with the potential return of £978.60.

Reasons for selections:

TOMILY running well; Scuzeme also running well but Art of Unity seems to be running a furlong too far.

FOUR KINGDOMS is a CD winner in form, Arms of The Angel well supported though

WITH CAUTION another CD winner running well; Wild Eric is in poor form so I don’t know who is backing it; Mendoza is having a first go on Tapeta

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

No Trixie bet yesterday so bank remains the same.

Original Bank £2,538.61 less £200 = £2,318.61 C/Fwd ROI N/A

NO TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

I could only find 5 races to check through today 3 class 4 and 2 class 5; nothing inspires me to put any of the selections in a Trixie today

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

One winner 3/1, a 3rd 9/2 and a 2nd 11/2 so no cigar. At least I got my money back with a back/lay on Sash in the 7.0 at Windsor (not included in the Trixie bet)

Original Bank £2,538.61 less £240 = £2,298.61 C/Fwd ROI N/A

TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

3.50 Uttox (3) Supreme Steel 7/2. 4.30 Catt (5) The Defiant 3/1 and 5.30 Yar (2) Hart Stopper (5/2) = £20 stake with a poterntial win of £553.6

NO TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

I could only find 4 suitable day time races today but the odds of the favourites are around 2/1 so I’ll pass. There are a couple of races at Ffos Las 8.00 & 8.30 where I may find a back to lay selection but not enough choices for me to find a Trixie today.

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

Last 11/4F, 8th 11/4F and Won 9/4F by a begrudging nose

Original Bank £2,538.61 less £260 = £2,278.61 C/Fwd ROI N/A

TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

3.15 Hayd(1) The Night Watch 11/4, 4.40NB (1) Lucky Louie (3/1), 5.15 NB (3) Crystal Casque (11/4) = £20 stake with a potential return of £501.56I

THE NIGHT WATCH seems in excellent form. I couldn’t decide between Tenax and Pembleton marginally favouring Pembleton 3lbs better off for ¾ length; not convinced that Tenax will be superior again. Therefore I’m hoping that The Night Watch’s form will prove stronger

LUCKY LOUIE has been knocking at the door and I hope that today is his turn for a win

CRYSTAL CASQUE is ina very competitive race and in a way, if Jungle Juice wins then I can’t really complain.

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE
No Trixie, yesterday hence the bank remains the same.

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

4th 3/1, 3rd 15/8F and 3rd 5/2F So much for fancied horses doing well in the summer months

Original Bank £2,538.61 less £280 = £2,258.61 C/Fwd ROI N/A

TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

3.0 Str (1) Young Wolf 11/4, 3.15 N Abb (3) Riviere Argentee 7/2, 5.35 NAbb ((13) Alanjou 7/2 = £20 stake with the potential return of £649.69

Young Wolf has potentially more potential than others at the increased distance

River Argentee is running very well; I don’t buy it that it needs cut in the ground to win.

Alanjou is up 10lbs but is in great form so I’ll stick with this one.

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

At last at least a double for the month. One winner 9/4F, one 2nd 3/1J and a winner at 11/4. BOG meant that I received £80 less £20 = a profit of £60 on the day.

Losing out on £620 for the Trixie was a bit of a disappointment and I know that hindsight is no sight but I did wonder why Makzeem finished 4 lengths ahead of George William when the latter finished 2.25 lengths in front when they both last met. Makzeem was 5lbs better off for the 2.25 lengths beating AND it was noted that Makzeem was squeezed for room on that occasion. Although the media experts made noises about the prospects of Makzeem winning soon, all the big boys were recommending that George William would once again finish in front. Only RP Ratings plus one other RP tipster supported Makseem. For my part, I have learnt that I must look more closely into the form book when one horse has run against another fancied runner. The markets too were either influenced by the media hype or somehow accepted that George William would prevail. This is not sour grapes but just a warning not to just accept what the experts say without doing a bit of further research.

Original Bank £2,538.61 less £280 + £60= £2,318.61 C/Fwd ROI N/A

NO TRIXIE SELECTIONS YET TODAY

I don’t like any runners in the afternoon races today. I started to look at the 5.30 at Carlisle with Canford Thompson. Not sure about it running 2 days after its last run; it usually has 3-4 weeks between races; only in Feb 2018 did it race within a few days of its last run, but that was on the flat. As they say if in doubt leave it out. I may come back later but I am not overly impressed with today’s mainly class 6 action with horses at 3/1 above for the favourites.

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE
One winner and two seconds so no return today. Since the first one was a winner I did an in-running lay bet for £21.05@ 2.06 to recover my £20 stake money. Luckily it got matched so I did not show a personal loss on the day.

It seemed odd to me that David Pipe’s Ourmullion showed the much-improved form to beat Riviere Argentee by 8 lengths! Imagine how shocked I was to find that David Pipe’s other horse Picture Painter brushed aside Alanjou by 1and ¾ lengths at 25/1 (48.00) BSP. I have to tell you that I was looking around at the race meetings today with a view to back any of David Pipe’s horses today. Sadly there are none. Phenomenal improvement for both these horses!!

TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

3.0 Muss (2) Gabriel The Tiger 7/2, 4.15 (12) Engrossed 11/4, 6.50 (2) Cantiniere 10/3 = £20 stake with a potential return of £628.60

Gabriel The Tiger is running very well; if the heavens open up later and the ground becomes softish then Mujaasim may give him a tougher race.

Engrossed is up 3lbs and should beat Atletico who is a beaten favourite and is up 12lbs.

Cantiniere should progress to the next grade and hopefully, Hayley will get a winner.

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

NO TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

I can’t find three reliable selections for a Trixie today. I have made a couple of back to lay bets but they are not strong enough to put them in a Trixie.

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

Quite a lot of class races today despite it being a Sunday. A lot of non-runners have scuppered my ideas about Uttoxeter selections. I quite liked Haul Away to win the 3.00 but I don’t back horses at 2/1

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

No Trixie yesterday

NO TRIXIE SELECTIONS TODAY

Presidential looks good in 3.30 at Ayr but the horse has played up at the start on two occasions that Ben Curtis has ridden it.

In the 4.15 at Newton Abbot, Our Mullion should win despite the 7lbs penalty but Nabhan may upset the apple cart and, it would be foolish to discount Mauricio

Young John looks to have a good chance in the 7.15 Windsor but this race does not look like a walkover and the market movers are shortening its price too much for my liking.

I have had a back/lay bet on Ice Age in the 7.50 at Windsor but don’t expect my required odds to be matched at 40 (55.0 matched for £2 previously). The trouble with back/lay bets on outsiders is that one must request very high odds in order to be able to trade out later.

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

A 6th at 5/2, 3rd at 11/4F and a winner at 3/1 by a head.

I found it quite amusing that the Racing Post tipster picked all the winners from my Trixie selection races. He/she did not get any others though.

I did get back my money with a dangerous “lay” bet. I’ll try not to do that again.

FOUR DOUBLES AND A TRIXIE TODAY

Sorry to spring this on you guys; I feel I need to change my strategy after only one double for the whole of July. I was going to start this tomorrow but having done the work and placed the bets it seems only right to put them up today. I will keep the cumulative loss running as this is actual for me; however, it is a simple matter to adjust for it to see if the new strategy works by 31st August. If it doesn’t work then I will have to make an in-depth review before moving on. If anyoine can tell me how to change the from heading to reflect the above title I will appreciate it

DOUBLES & TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE

Just one winner yesterday out of eight selections. I made a stupid mistake by entering £4 under the Trixie stake which meant that I placed £16 instead of £4. I got one winner there but could not trade out of it. Never mind, it won’t happen again. Anyway, I am very pleased with this new strategy and I very much look forward to seeing how I do with it in August.

Original Bank £2,538.61 less £320 - £32 = £2,186.61 C/Fwd ROI N/A

FOUR DOUBLES AND TWO TREBLES

I have decided that it will be better for me to invest my Trixie stake of £4 in the form of 2 x £2 trebles for the rest of August. I considered a £4 single treble but I do like to trade my bets when the opportunity arises (not cash out) so I will see how this approach works.

DOUBLES:
  • 2.250 GD (3) DUKE OF HAZARD 3/1, 3.00 GD (3) MOJITO 7/2 £4 STAKE POSS WIN £72.00
  • 4.10 GD(1) PRAXEOLOGY 7/2. 5.15 GD (1) HAROVIAN 10/3 £4 STAKE POSS WIN £78.00

  • 2.45 BANG (3) DIABLO DE ROUET 9/4, 3.0 GD (3) MOJITO 7/2, 8.40 MUSS (1) NATIVE FIGHTER 3.5 = £4 STAKE WITH POSSIBLE RETURN £102.36

DOUBLES & TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE
One winner today. I tried a back/lay bet on Allegient in the 6.20 at Epsom. I took the odds of 4.5. It drifted before the off but my odds of 2.74 were matched in-running . This meant that I had a nil liability but it finished second so I did not get my multiples money back.

Original Bank £2,538.61 less £372 = £2,166.61 C/Fwd ROI N/A

FOUR DOUBLES AND TWO TREBLES

NO BETS TODAY, WASTED A LOT OF TIME ON GOODWOOD BUT SCARCELY THE PLACE FOR DOUBLES AND TREBLES TODAY WITH SO MANY RUNNERS.

TAKING A DAY OFF TOMORROW, WILL BE BACK MONDAY

DOUBLES & TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE
