Can't see why anyone should be upset - you're demonstrating a live p/l thread. Well done on your profit today.

Personally, I would say, if you are betting for 'real money' then a profit for you may help you tick along BUT you are not doing yourself any favours by not seeing it through......

'Cashing out' is the bookie's friend given that you had already secured a return with the double. That's my thoughts....

I can see this being a profitable thread and I hope you include the 'results' as you originally bet them ie/. if Beatbybeatbybeat wins.

That's not a bad idea @retriever, would be interested to see the long term results. I have done multiples in the past and I have to say that I found e/w doubles and trixies profitable as long as you have the bank to sustain them, however now I stick with singles.

@dave58 I prefer singles too ( and not each way either). It's ok to dabble in doubles and trebles etc. for 'fun' comp. tips but I find that, after a small purple patch with a few win singles, I am prone to wasting profits trying to string together multiples.

@The Equaliser I see Beatbybeatbybeat was a non-runner (so we'll never know :) ). Looks like you made the right call today. By the way, you must be betting to BOG - are you?

TODAY’S TRIXIE SELECTIONS
2.0 Newb. (4) Gold Souk 11/4, 4.30 Yarm (2) Marronier 11/2 and 4.40 Newb. (1) Sapa Inca 10/3 = £4 staked and potential return £174.40. I don’t usually back unraced 2 year olds but there isn’t much class racing around today and at least the horse in a class 3 race.
TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE
A good day yesterday with two winners and a withdrawn horse in the 3rd leg at 11/4. I cashed out for a profit of £70.80 after the second leg. I know that “cashing out” is not a good policy but it seemed to me that taking almost three times the return of an ordinary £1 double with odds of 5/1 and 3/1 was a good deal. One thing I should mention is that I have the mind set to not have been bothered should the third selection had run and won and I missed out on say another £150 extra. In fact I was disappointed that it did not run and win as I could have recorded my first Trixie win, albeit I would have posted up a smaller profit of £70.80.
The actual sequence to date is: LLLLLDLLLLLLLLLLD where L = Lost & D = a Double win. When I win a Trixie I will write “T”.
Original Bank £500 add £70.80 and less £29.61 = £541.19 Balance C/Fwd. Equals 8.2 % ROI

Hi @The Equaliser Are you using BOG for these selections?

Sorry for being a bit sour here, but I get the feeling this thread is just going to turn into your own personal blog and diary of your Trixie bets.
Your results and bank are going to be meaningless to the rest of us (or at least to me).
Not for me, I'm afraid, but I wish you the very best with your betting.

Also, I am not sure why you are focusing on 'class' racing - go and have a look at the smaller Class 5 & 6 races for your selections - you'll put together more winning doubles in your results at the 3/1 to 5/1 bracket - even by accident.

Hi retriever,

Well, if I'm posting up my selections in the wrong part of the Forum then I am happy to write them up under anther section if someone lets me know where to do it?

A lot of people say that they like a Trixie bet and all I am doing is trying to demonstrate that one can get good returns for a small outlay without busting the bank. My aim is to build on my bank of £500 and when the bank increases significantly then increase my stakes accordingly.

I don't know why you say that my results are meaningless to you or anybody else. Once again my aim is for other Trixie fans to see that by seeking out selections of 3/1 and over with horses that are fancied to run well then one can really make some money with this strategy. It of course does not have to be my own selections, in fact I would prefer that people find their own.

The reason I like to make selctions from the higher class races is that the horses running in those races tend to be far more reliable than the class 5 or 6 contenders. In fact, if I cannot find decent enough class races (class 5 being a minimum) I will not post up a daily Trixie on that day. Good luck to you if you can find the wiiners in the lower classes I am afraid I can't.

I hope this helps?

Fair enough @The Equaliser
I am a fan of the Trixie bet as I said before - it's just that the 'cashing out' early part nullifies keeping a Bank record (from the viewers point of view).
It makes it your own betting experience and not a strict record keeping exercise of the bets (Trixie) - but hey, it's your thread.

Are you betting these using BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed)?

Hi retriever,

I am sorry that cashing out offends you. however, how can I make up something like a £70.80 cash out? How can you check if I would have made £255.50 had my 3rd leg runner run and won? there has to be some trust here doesn't there? How could you know if a Trixie bet won that I was reporting the right profit. You just have to trust me, because you will not find another person on the internet that you can trust better than me.

Sorry I avoided your question about BOG before. At the moment I am using Sportsbook on Betfair. I haven't a clue whether these people use BOG. I am suspicious about all these betting mediums. Actually, I would prefer to use Betfair BSP multiples but as you may know £2 is the minium and I didn't want to start with £8 stakes for my Trixie. I would like to use them when I increase my stakes but I guess that I will have to pay 5% on my winnings when I do.

BTW, how is your strategy going on backing two horses against a weak favourite? Nothing wrong with that.

Hi @The Equaliser

First of all well done with your recent cash out Trixie Retun. What I would suggest is a little reasoning behind your Selections as that will increase traffic and positive responses to your thread. One reason why the Inner Sanctum Blog Threads is the reasoning behind the selections as that increases the discussion in a positive way, between you and other members

See 2right's tips.
And the post above, which is why I responded

My preference is the Patent Each way bet (including the singles) I focus on lower class races with an even field and never pick races where the favourite is less than 5/1 and I tend to pick the best mid-odds horses between approx 6 to 10/1 look at various stats and select the best horses from that range of odds.
Recently I had all 3 winners doing this and yes you get many a day when you win nothing or next to nothing but i like the amount of cover you get placing these bets . I find it's an inexpensive way to bet. Most days I get a return of some kind and now and again you may hit lucky with 3 winners as I have achieved once out of about 25 attempts.

Hi Chesham, I am sure that you are right.

My fear is that giving reasons for my selections will only lead to contoversy and me getting flak from other members

My shoulders are broad so I will give it a go.

Many thanks

TODAY’S TRIXIE SELECTIONS
2.20 Yk (13) Archie Perkins 4/1, 3.30 Yk (2) Right Action 15/2, 4.40 Yk (8) Society Queen (6/1) = £4 staked and potential return £434.48.

Reasons for selections:

Archie Perkins has been in great form and I cannot see why he shouldn’t be followed. The likes of TImeform and Sporting Life favour the form of Sputnik Planum and Ghalib, we will just have to wait and see who is right?

Right Action drops in grade has a top Jockey aboard and seems suited by the going.

Society Queen has won over the course and distance; has won on Good to Soft so hopefully soft going will be OK

TRIXIE RESULTS UPDATE
One winner and a third yesterday so no cigar. The two year old flopped so lesson learned.
Original Bank £500 add £37.19 = £537.19 Balance C/Fwd. Equals 7.4 % ROI

@The Equaliser Please don't take anything I say as criticism - I only want to help and develop other peoples knowledge, and my own, in the betting field.
I, for one, would love to be able to write essays on why I feel a horse may or may not win. I just don't have the time to follow horse racing in-depth at the moment and have to revert to systems for my selections - perhaps one day when 'I'm retired' :D - I know I would be good at it.
But I do know bookies/markets/odds/probabilities......and a bit of a spreadsheet geek.

So, with that in mind.....you say you are using Betfair Sportsbook? The prices you quote alongside your selections - are these the prices you have taken when placing your bet?
Then, unless you have been told otherwise by BS you will be getting BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed) - unlike me :(

So using Weds. Trixie as an example........ 3.40 Font (5) Bermeo 3/1, 4.30 Yar (9) Oud Metha Bridge 9/2

Bermeo had an SP of 5/1...........you would have got that price.
Oud Metha Bridge had an SP of 3/1.......you would have kept the 9/2 (if you had taken it, of course, at the time of placing your bet).

Makes a big difference to your return and of course if you win often the bookies will soon take away your BOG privilege.

Also, the 'cash out' price that bookies offer will be the return assuming that the remaining selections are 'non-runners' ie. the treble bet is classed as a double - the 2 doubles become singles etc... Don't quote me on that (I'm not 100% sure) but that's how the maths adds up for me.

One other thing, the £2 minimum you say need to have on Betfair SP is for singles.
If do multiplies (ie. Trixies) the minimum is for the TOTAL bet outlay - so you can do 4 x 50p if you want.
I hope that helps for the future when the bookies 'shut you down' for winning too much !! ;)

PS. If you are speaking to a member directly put an @ in front of their name like @retriever - then they will get an alert of your post (see the little bell symbol top right).
