Hi has anyone read a book called FORM BOOK ANALYSIS by M L Midgley, I was wondering if it was worth buying the only copy I can find is on Amazon for £30.
The reason I ask is I was just flicking through some racing sites and this book was recommended, the sight said it may be dated now but there is a very good chapter about speed ratings.
Is it worth paying the money for this one chapter, or can anyone let me know how the book compiled the ratings.
Thanks

@whu
I have a booklet by M.L.Midgley called "Rate And Assess The Form Formula" published back in 1984.

His method of rating horses was to only use the last 2 runs of any horses and he used a base rate of 50.

In an example a horses carrying 6lb more this is a plus so it is added on to the 50 pts = 56, and on the other hand
if he carried 6lb less this would be deducted = 44.
He also had form rules plus a table for the market price in case of tie-breakers etc, the man knew his stuff.

Mike.

I found a used copy on Abebooks for you @whu priced £20.00 plus p+p

The problem is I have not personally ordered from them so cannot recommend taking a chance with them, if it works out OK you could probally sell it afterwards and get your money back no doubt.

Just a thought.

UPDATE:
The book is sold via Abebooks by
