Bet Angel

Earlier in the thread, someone doubted that people really made money by scalping/trading on Betfair.

If people didn't make money scalping, then Betfair wouldn't have introduced their Premium Charge, since there'd be no-one to pay it.
Believe me you can get to maximum 60% premium charge without scalping/trading , i‘m on that for life from mostly in-running betting taking a view not trading and I didn’t even use fast pictures, so it WAS pretty easy to reach premium charge.
As far as I know you don’t even have to do anything much to get on the lower tier.
A lot of in-running players hit with premium charge because that’s where all the value was especially in the early days, very little left now.
Had conversation on this forum with someone who was hit with premium charge and I’m 100% sure that was the case just from backing horses pre-race in the traditional fashion.

Hi Nick not used this very much .I wondered if you could me help on Betdaq for betangel? I want to back dogs on price I predict when the price is above my prediction 10 sec before the off? Can I use a spreadsheet with my predictions on so its quick. It would take for ever loading every dog into bet angel? Regards Tony

A few years since I did something similar with Horse Racing and I had a excel sheet, no idea if I could still find it probably not as it was on an old PC.
I didn‘t use Bet Angel , I used Gruss Software free for Betdaq and searched for excel triggered betting and got the sheet somewhere off the internet , not clever enough to build my own sheet but I adapted it and it worked well and did all the things you wanted, if I remember correctly I had another a sheet with all my selections and minimum odds, pasted it straight on to the trigger sheet and it fired it bets at certain times I had set it up for.

This was the sheet I used and adapted for triggered excel betting, probably very basic but sure you can do all you asked with it on Betdaq with free Gruss Betting Assistant

O Outlander , markfinn markfinn , doomster doomster , nicksar nicksar @ anyone else ... cant remember who if any of you use the various bits of software with the exchange companies, but you may be able to point me to an answer.

I am trying to find something that will place bets for me based on betfair SP's ...

e.g. I have a list of horses each day that I want to back .. and I want to take an in-play price that is 50% over the betfair starting price (for example)

So I am looking at horse A ... the race starts and the betfair SP is 3.0 ... i then want a bot to trigger an in-play bet at 4.0 for a set stake.
No cash out is needed, just trigger a bet in play based on BSP?

Can it be done do we think?

Where to start my research?
Any links or recommendations?

pete pete never tried to do this, all I ever did was used triggered excel betting on Gruss to place bets above my value price
quick google this thread might be relevant to you requirements , nite I know nothing of this software

cheers O Outlander , your search skills certainly appear to be better than mine at least ;)

Have a promising "system" where i am looking at shorter priced usa horses that tend to be known to be closers, combined with a decent jockey up top. initial results are promising ... but waiting for races is often tedious.

I had the betangel service for a while not sure about bfsp but I assume you can - you can set your required odds which is what I was doing - I know nicksar nicksar is the man for this but others will also know

I'm doubtful it could be done pete pete , but I was a complete novice with Bet Angel and realised I was better off working manually.

I was only doing pre set in running lays, but even back then I was under cut on price and then the odd occasion the market never went in play.

My only comment would be is there any volume now in running ?

In the forum, Dallas posts up example bots that once put into guardian can be tested and edited to suit your own needs. They aren't the finished article, but he is willing to answer any questions if you get stuck.

The BSP can be utilised by Bet Angel within its' automation. Below is an example of an In-play one for Laying, can be switched to backing as well I should imagine.

IMHO, US racing seems quite poor for in-play stuff. You have to be cautious you don't back/lay at bad odds if you're running automation.

Guardian I Found it almost impossible to use - you have to careful around the off time of races - if delayed bets often do not trigger - it’s years since I used it so it might have improved - am dreaming but did not betfair used to offer Keep at of or accept BFSF. When multiple betting ( as we know) to obtain correct value / one bet is dependant on the other and vice a versa so very difficult to work the way I used to .
Time change and unless you are betting small stakes you cannot get on at right price .

They have updated Guardian quite a bit, not necessarily for the best. The issue of missing bets may have been the refresh rates at the time of bet execution.

I found the more markets you had inside guardian, you had to edit/change the refresh rates to 20ms. This is essential for any In-Play bots as things can change super-fast. The fastest bot wins in most cases. (Bit like HFT in stock market trading).

Thanks all for the replies. I will take a deeper look the next time my wife allows my arse to touch a seat for more than 5 minutes. ;)
Doing it manually right now and that is fine, just wondered if there was an easier way to get it done.
