Even when i was a Young Gun as opposed to my current Old Git status i liked adages.Often when i could not find one to suit i would make one up.! Is there not one along the lines of with age comes wisdom, and how does this pan out from a betting perspective.?
Over the years the Cambridgeshire has become one of my fav races with plenty of disappointments but the winners proving worth the wait.Thinking back did age give me some wisdom, back in my early days. ? I was still a teenager and in my local Corals having my first bet in the race ,no thought work or effort ,just a tip taken from the newspaper "expert".I was standing next to an OG named the horse and bragged i have just had a tenner on,OG said its an 8yo they seldom win this race.
He was proved correct and was the wisdom an awareness of trends.? Same race the next year different OG but bugger me same outcome ,i gobbed off about having £10 ew on mine OG said its been raining at Newm the going is now soft and will not suit yours.! Which proved correct.! The wisdom of having proven on soft on side, when needed.!
These Old Gits do sometimes have some wisdom to offer,if the Young Guns stop listen and think with there Bonce as opposed to expecting there Lap Top to do every single part of the job for them.! I would like to belatedly thank the two OGs mentioned above, because for both races although i lost my money i gained what proved to be some very useful knowledge.
